Aphrodite: Greek goddess of love and beauty

Aphrodite was largely worshiped as a goddess of love and beauty in many of the cities that made up ancient Greece. As the goddess of love and fertility, Aphrodite's symbols were doves, roses, swans, and sparrows. Aphrodite was believed to be the daughter of Zeus or to have risen from the sea on a shell.
